Notes and Editorial Reviews
The first complete recording of works by Heinrich Schütz has set artistic and editorial benchmarks. The first eight releases of the complete recording, containing among others the Geistliche Chor-Music 1648, the Italian Madrigals and the Psalms of David, are now being released in a box set of eleven CDs. The recordings have been supplemented with an Arthaus film entitled “Heinrich Schütz. Der Vater der deutschen Musik”, a documentary by Jörg Kobel. In this film about the “father of German music”, international experts and musicians from central Germany to Venice, including David Douglas Bryant, Bjarke Moe, Prof. Matthias Herrmann, Dr. Christina Siegfried, and Hans-Christoph Rademann, discuss the composer.
