Notes and Editorial Reviews
Sales of this CD will directly benefit music programs in Bay Area schools through the KDFC Music Matters Foundation . The centerpiece of the KDFC commitment is the annual Music Matters Music Educator of the Year Award, which salutes the instructors, mentors and teachers that make a difference in young lives throughout the Bay Area. KDFC also sponsors a free Summer music series to engage young minds. And working with the advocacy group Music in Schools Today, KDFC leads an annual drive to put $ 100,000 worth of musical instruments in the hands of needy students. One of several programs nominated by listeners to receive KDFC support was the After School Band Program of the Fremont Unified School District. In 2004 the grant funded an additional 53 weeks of free classes in 27 elementary schools.
