Verreau’s manly lyric sound presents a stylistically persuasive Faust. One constantly rejoices in the authenticity of this French-Canadian artist’s textual projection. Rubio is an atypical Marguerite in the sheer opulence of her instrument. The remastered audio quality is rather in-your-face, not always flattering the Lamoureux orchestra.
