Nice Stylish Period Production January 4, 2013
By Hugh T. J. (Dixon, CA) -- See All My Reviews
I wasn't familiar with this opera when I purchased it, but I thought it interesting from a historical perspective. The enclosed synopsis was very helpful in fleshing out the details I had previously missed when viewing it. The story is based on a typical love triangle with the various misdeeds and coverups. True love rings true at the end, but alas she mistakenly sniffs the poisonous flowers sent her by her rival with predictable results. Not a very convincing plot, but the arias and drama will hold your attention. Report Abuse

 A very moving Adriana May 15, 2012
By Ronald Mackinnon (ELIZABETH BAY, NSW) -- See All My Reviews
This production of Adriana Lecouvreur is a mandatory addition to every opera lover's collection. The standard of singing along with her acting is just wonderful. Miss Georghiu has matured to utter perfection in the years since I attended her performance of Juliet at the Met some years ago Report Abuse

An amazingly good story, the perfomace of Kaufmann, splendid singing, and acting, yes this opera to-day,I didn,t think it still happened{the golden age,is still with us.Actually Gheorghiu, and Borodina, stold the show, they of course do the major part of the singing.Kaufmann wanders in occasionally ,and his acting and singing rivet one to ones seat Report Abuse

The whole cast - Gheorghiu, Borodina and Kaufmann are all superb as is this production. Highly recommended. I almost fell of the sofa when I first heard Kaufmann's voice and he looks gorgeous too!!!!!! Don't miss this one! Report Abuse
