Notes and Editorial Reviews
Your favorite seasonal music, beautifully arranged for and performed by The London Chamber Orchestra.
"Midwinter's Eve - Music for Christmas" performed by The London Chamber Orchestra and conducted by Christopher Warren-Green is a collection of instrumental classical treatments of the best loved melodies of the Christmas season.
The old carols and vocal pieces, which have passed into the world's folk lexicon, whether they were written or anonymous, are treated in contemporary arrangements by Craig Leon. Though they are modern the arrangements and performance techniques are based in the styles and musical attitudes of the various time periods when the source pieces were first written. Altogether it is a

soothing, joyous reflection of the season.
The London Chamber Orchestra and Christopher Warren-Green were the orchestra who provided the music for the recent English Royal Wedding seen around the world. The sound track from the Royal Wedding album is one of the best selling classical releases of the year. This album is their follow up to that one.
The origin of this recording was a virtual "commission" from the managing editor of the hugely successful radio station "Classic FM" in the UK. They felt that there was a gap in their programming for the Christmas season that needed to be filled. “Midwinter's Eve” would provide them with instrumental versions of carols and well known classical vocal pieces that suited their format.
All tracks arranged by Craig Leon.

Your new favorite Christmas music December 2, 2011
By Ellen M. (Jacksonville, FL) See All My Reviews
"This is an exquisite recording that will put you in the holiday mood from the first note. The arrangements are thoughtful and the performances are gauged to please the ear of a lover of classical music. Even without my "best" headphones, the sound makes me feel like I'm in the audience instead of listening to a recording. The liner notes (yes, it has them!) provide information that gave me a new view of familiar carols and the CD is nicely packaged. Great gift, and great for your own collection. You may ignore your other holiday favorites once you listen to this one."
