Notes and Editorial Reviews

These [performances] are excellent...The Foundling Hospital anthem has some fine music, and is well done, with what is I think the best period-instrument performance I have heard of the Hallelujah Chorus to round it off. The Haydn is fairly slight (a Gloria in 1'46'' must be some sort of a record), but there is some slow, gently pensive and quite touching music in the ''Et incarnatus'' and in the later movements. One of the pleasures of this disc, in both Handel and Haydn, is the duetting of Judith Nelson and Emma Kirkby, perfectly balanced, perfectly tuned, perfectly delightful.
