Atmospheric Spanish Music For Piano And Orchestra October 21, 2012 By Henry S. (Springfield, VA) See All My Reviews "Manuel de Falla's impressionistic Nights in the Gardens of Spain leads off this fine collection of Spanish works for piano and orchestra. While many excellent recordings of this well-known work are available, Jean-Francois Heisser's solid acount with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra clearly ranks right up there near the top of the list. Perhaps less well-known are the other three pieces- Fantastic Concerto and Spanish Rhapsody by Isaac Albeniz and Joaquin Turina's Symphonic Rhapsody. Needless to say, all are authentically Spanish, meaning that they contain gorgeous and highly imaginative piano and orchestral color, and in this regard the recording truly shines. Any classical music lover, particularly anyone who has not experienced the beauty of Spanish music not written specifically for the guitar, should find this excellent recording very worthwhile. Recommended." Report Abuse
