Notes and Editorial Reviews

British pianist and conductor Howard Shelley is featured here on a new album with the Swedish chamber orchestra Västerås Sinfonietta. French music is on the menu: Gabriel Fauré's "Suite from Masques et Bergamasques" and "Pavane", paired with Francis Poulenc's "Aubade" and - suitably - his "Sinfonietta.” Howard Shelley was educated at Highgate School and then the Royal College of Music. His career began after he won the premier prize at the Royal College of Music at the end of his first year and gave a following recital in London as well as a televised Promenade concert with the London Symphony Orchestra under conducter Michael Tilson Thomas, all in the same season. He has recorded several Read more records for various labels. Among his most popular recordings are Rachmaninov’s complete piano music and concertos, and series of Mozart, Hummel, Cramer, and all of Gershwin’s works. Read less
