Wonderful new lyric soprano with coloratura reach May 9, 2017 By William S. (Cleveland Heights, OH) See All My Reviews "I purchased this CD after hearing two cuts from it on my local all-classical station, WCLV-104.9FM. It was their "CD of the week." They got it right! Ms. Garifullina has a marvelous voice, with a purity and clarity reminiscent of the late Anna Moffo. Her voice pours like liquid silver: sustained note-holding with no tremolo, unless called for in the score - a personal preference. A Tatar by birth, her CD contains 15 songs, 13 written by Russian composers. She does them all proud, as well as the two others, one by Delibes (the Bell Song from Lakme: a tour de force!) and the other by Gounod (Ah! Je veux vivre from Romeo and Juliet.) I generally dislike naming a favorite from a very worthy compilation such as this, but I'd probably have paid what I did just to be able to hear her sing "Song of India," from Sadko by Rimsky-Korsakov, whenever I wished. A great new operatic talent, she should have a wonderful career ahead of her." Report Abuse
