Notes and Editorial Reviews

One of the leading violinists of his generation, Hungarian musician Kristof Barati performs with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Mariinsky, WDR Sinfonieorchester, and London Philharmonic. For this release, Barati performs Mozart’s complete works for violin and orchestra with incredible skill and vitality.

REVIEW:

I was won over by the characterful projection of Baráti’s playing and the responsiveness of his Hungarian players. Baráti is businesslike and urban in slow movements. These have an ideal singing tone but he doesn’t pine for beauty elsewhere: there’s just occasionally a gruff edge to the 1703 ‘Lady Harmsworth’ Strad that provides added colour to his playing in faster

Essential Mozart Played With Finesse And Verve  January 28, 2017 By L. Majors (Bartlesville, OK) See All My Reviews "Mozart wrote beautiful, joyful and almost perfect music; nothing in his oeuvre testifies to that fact more so than do his Violin Concertos. So on that score alone, this CD set is more than desirable. Add the fact that this is an excellent recording of an immensely satisfying performance at a bargain basement price, and this set comes a must-have for anyone looking to add the Violin Concertos to their collection. Highly recommended." Report Abuse
Magnificent Mozart November 25, 2016 By owen  ryan (lakewood, CA) See All My Reviews "I first became aware of Barati by way of Brilliant Classics CD of Paganini compositions (see my 06-18-14 review). wherein Barati gave a string-bending performance of Paganini's fiery works. Here we have Barati on the other end of the spectrum playing Mozart's gentle, tuneful, and lively Violin Concertos. Absolutely marvelous playing by Barati and the Hungarian Chamber Orchestra. Strongly recommended!" Report Abuse
