Notes and Editorial Reviews

Some of Prokofiev's most striking and famous music is included here, centering on the thrilling ballet Romeo and Juliet. The disc includes widely popular pieces such as the Troika from the Lieutenant Kijé suite and the March from the opera The Love for Three Oranges. Neeme Järvi and the Scottish National Orchestra, a legendary partnership, are as famous for their brilliance of performance as for their brilliance of sound. Their Prokofiev series for Chandos is a classic of the digital age.  Woderful start to Prokofiev's music September 30, 2014 By A. Smith (Dunedin, Otago) See All My Reviews "These are a very good introduction to anybody wishing to experience a start to this great 20th centuary Russian composer. Some of his best works. Add to that the narration of Lina Prokofiev on 'Peter and the Wolf' these recordings appear to have been recorded in the late 1980's when Lina would be in her late 80's WOW.
