Notes and Editorial Reviews

ATMA presents The Epiphany, the fifth volume in its project to record the sacred cantatas of J.S. Bach in conjunction with the annual Montréal Baroque Festival. Cantatas BWV 72, 81, 155, 156 are performed on original instruments with an all-star international orchestra under the direction of American conductor and continuo player Eric Milnes. German singers Monika Mauch and Franziska Gottwald, English tenor Charles Daniels, and Dutch bass Harry van der Kamp are featured both as soloists and in the choral sections, singing one voice per part in an interpretation faithful to historical sources.  Top Notch Bach December 25, 2016 By Kevin Z. (Cicero, IL) See All My Reviews "These not so well known Bach works are meticulously played in early music practice. This group breathes nuanced life into arias with outstanding singers. The orchestral and vocal lines are always clear, which is not always easy with Bach. This group performs consistently well from recitative to choral sections. Top notch this Orchestre Baroque de Montreal or Montreal Baroque. I hope they continue recording!" Report Abuse
