Cellist Andre Navarra and flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal feature on releases from Supraphon, APR Recordings has given us more historic recordings by the pianist Ignace Paderewski, and the Naxos label's collection of recordings featuring Gerard Schwarz is a special delight. You'll also find complete symphony cycle recordings of Beethoven, Schubert, Bruckner, and Martinu.

The first ten of our favorites are below:

The Gerard Schwarz Collection
A remarkable collection of recordings celebrating the 70th birthday of one of the world’s leading conductors. Today’s musical landscape would appear entirely differently and be very much poorer without his tireless presence.
$94.99 – (30 CDs) – New Release

Andre Navarra: Prague Recordings
The first complete issue of the 19 studio albums the cellist made for the label between 1953 and 1966. These recordings bear witness to his artistry, emotional poignancy, and spontaneous musicianship; a real treat for those loving the enchanting cello timbres. (Audiovisual clip)
$34.99 – (5 CDs) – New Release

Schubert: Symphonies Nos. 1-8 / Harnoncourt, Berlin Philharmonic
These colorful and dramatic readings represent a unique synthesis between the ensemble's famous sound and the maestro's seemingly effortless ability to achieve orchestral transparency, gained through decades of period instrument practice.
$43.99 – (5 Hybrid SACDs) – New Release

Beethoven: Complete Symphonies / Blomstedt, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig
The music flows continuously with vivid pulsation and admirable transparency. The fast movements are fresh, with splendid rhythmic bounce, while the slow movements exude warmth and are strikingly, unfailingly, lovely. The orchestral playing is of the highest quality.
$43.99 – (5 CDs) – New Release

Bach: Cantatas for the Complete Liturgical Year / Kuijken, La Petite Bande
Among current cantata series this one has a distinctive place, his one-to-a-part voices and few instruments achieving striking delicacy. His vocal soloists sing with disarming simplicity and ease in arias, and blend superbly in ensemble. (Audiovisual clip)
$43.99 – (19 CDs) – New Release

Naxos: The Anniversary Collection
The label's history has many twists and turns but its stunning trajectory has always been onwards, upward, outwards. Collectors will appreciate this well thought through set that smartly doubles as a special draw for beginners in the classical field.
$39.99 – (30 CDs) – New Release

The American Recordings / Paderewski
His style of playing really does take us back to the 19th century. This indispensable set makes available for the first time every surviving matrix from his most prolific recording contract – that with the US Victor company. (Audiovisual clip)
$29.99 – (5 CDs) – 2017 Release

Martinu: The Symphonies / Meister, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra
For decades, Martinu shied away from composing a symphony, the first not to be written until 1942, followed in yearly succession by four more, with the sixth coming in 1953. These varied, cogent works are treated with all due emotion and great aplomb.
$18.99 – (3 CDs) – New Release

Bruckner: Symphonies Nos. 1-9 / Bolton, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra
There is a compelling sweep in this interpretation, replete with an atmospheric and detailed recording. And the ending could hardly be more final, more unequivocal, just as the composer surely intended. (Audiovisual clip)
$17.99 – (9 CDs) – New Release

Jean-Pierre Rampal in Prague: The Complete Supraphon Recordings
Given that the Richter Concerto and Sonata are making their first CD appearance, Rampal’s admirers should on no account overlook that fact and the other many excellent performances on offer here. (Audiovisual clip)
