Below are some examples of the fantastic CDs available at 3 for $20!*

Gliere: Symphony No 3 "Il'ya Muromets" / Falletta
A ClassicsToday 10/10! An important and special recording – superbly played, viscerally exciting, richly engineered – that proves that this epic symphony “works” as a coherent piece of music. This performance draws you in and keeps you in its grasp from first page to last.

Bloch: Symphony in E Flat Major / Atlas, RPO
Bloch expert Dalia Atlas earned raves for last year's recording of the composer's Symphony in C-sharp minor. She follows that triumph by leading the Royal Philharmonic in Bloch's final symphony.

Franck: Early Piano Music / Julia Severus
Franck’s Ballade is an ever-shifting piece of modulating themes and changing harmonies, which Severus plays with intelligent simplicity and contemplation. In the polyphonic structures of his Souvenirs of Aix-la-Chapelle, Severus dexterously blends Franck’s admixture of tenderness and sublime awe.

Mozart: Symphonies 38-40 (Arr. by Hummel for Flute, Violin, Cello & Piano)
Like the arrangements themselves, these engaging performances are faithful to Mozart’s originals but also sensitive to the cultural circumstances under which Hummel prepared them. This is Mozart in a more social guise, but no less enjoyable. In fact, I feel quite certain that listeners who love this music will enjoy this.

Shostakovich: Symphony No 14 / Petrenko
A ClassicsToday 10/10! One of the finest releases in an exceptional cycle. In Petrenko’s hands, we become supremely conscious of how Shostakovich achieves moments of exquisite beauty using the simplest of means. Stunning.

Hovhaness: Symphony No 60, Guitar Concerto / Leisner, Schwarz
A ClassicsToday 10/10! The Guitar Concerto must be numbered among the more successful works in its genre. The music is wholly beguiling and never overstays its welcome. The same holds true for Symphony No. 60. The entire program is extremely well played, from guitarist David Leisner on up.

Part: Triodion, Ode VII... / Elora Festival Singers
A ClassicsToday 10/10! A truly enjoyable hour of music, essential for Pärt aficionados and choral enthusiasts. Exquisite describes the performances of the Elora Festival Singers, who provide pure-toned and texturally beautiful singing. The recording is spacious and well-detailed.

McTee: Symphony No 1, Circuits... / Slatkin, Detroit
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. The work of orchestra and conductor in these performances is exemplary. The engineering is superb. I can think of no better way to come to know the work of this fascinating composer.

Ysaye: Sonatas for Solo Violin / Tianwa Yang
Tianwa Yang caught everyone's attention with her marvelous series of recordings devoted to the music of Sarasate. Now this remarkable musician turns to Ysaÿe's six sonatas for solo violin, among the greatest and most demanding of the twentieth century.

Bax: Winter Legends / Wass, Judd, Bournemouth
A ClassicsToday 10/10! Winter Legends is a piano concerto in all but name. Bax specialist Ashley Wass highlights the alternating delicacy and bravura of the composer's piano writing, while James Judd draws rich, colorful playing from the Bournemouth Symphony.

Paine: Symphony No 1, The Tempest / Falletta, Ulster
Paine is one of America’s earliest and most important composers of large-scale symphonic and orchestral works. This is an indispensable release.

Danielpour: Toward a Season of Peace / St. Clair
This world-premiere recording impresses with its immense forces and energetic playing and compels an emotional response with its beautiful lyricism. A lovely and reverent performance, gorgeous in its harmonies and textures, and ultimately moving because of its simplicity and directness.
