Dear ArkivMusic Customer,

The Warner Classics family of labels is now on sale, including, for the first time at ArkivMusic, the entire CD & DVD catalogs of EMI Classics and Virgin Classics in addition to Warner Classics, Erato, Teldec, and Apex. The venerable EMI record company, whose storied history extends to the beginnings of recorded sound, is now part of Warner Classics, and eventually, all recordings on EMI and Virgin will bear the Warner and Erato imprints.

You can view all of the titles on sale in our special Warner Classics section. Here are a few highlights from Warner's family of labels to get you started:

Rameau: Les Fetes D'hebe / Christie, Les Arts Florissants
This first complete recording of Rameau’s tribute to the lyric arts, poetry, music and dance, is riveting. This is French Baroque music – graceful, decorative, and charming – at its very best. (2 CDs)

Haydn: String Quartets Opp. 20, 64, 76 & 103 / Endellion String Quartet
For those who prefer to hear these works on modern instruments – count me among them – the Endellion Quartet offers stylish, historically informed playing benefited by rich tone, pitch-perfect intonation, and smooth bowing. Very strongly recommended.

Rachmaninov: Symphony No 2 / Petrenko
This charismatic conductor is on a roll. The symphony is played with high energy, lush textures, and vivid sonorities. Petrenko and his musicians display tremendous sympathy and passion for the music, so the expressions are spot on. The sound of the orchestra is gorgeous.

The Sound of Alison Balsom
This compilation of Baroque gems makes it easy to hear why Alison Balsom is one of the most lauded musicians of her generation.

Best Karajan 100
100 selections from Karajan's EMI period, which solidified his reputation through the many wonderful recordings made during that time. (6 CDs)

Sacred Verdi / Antonio Pappano
The acclaimed conductor brings his Roman chorus and orchestra together for a disc of rare music Verdi wrote for the church rather than the opera house.

Britten: Orchestral Works
One of the most innovative and imaginative composers of the 20th century, Benjamin Britten was a master of the orchestral genre. This extensive collection charts the development of Britten's orchestral voice and features many of his greatest works. (8 CDs)

Chabrier: Le Roi Malgre Lui / Hendricks, Quilico, Dutoit
A witty, deliciously sparkling opera-comique score which ever since its premiere in 1887 has been hailed by musicians as masterly: according to Ravel, its harmonic thinking also changed the whole course of French music. (2 CDs)

Tchaikovsky: Serenade For Strings; Souvenir De Florence / Amoyal, Camerata De Lausanne
Wonderfully invigorating and touching performances of two Tchaikovsky favorites make for a disc that is pure magic.

Mendelssohn - Felix & Fanny / Quatuor Ebene
In these beautiful string quartets by two Mendelssohns – Felix and his older sister, Fanny – the Ebène Quartet urgently brings the music to life, as much in gentler, lyrical sections as in brilliant ones, always with maximum color and contrast.

Bach: Piano Concertos BWV 1052, 1055, 1056 / Pires, Corboz
There is a quality in these performances, which makes them timeless. Pires captures the spirit of this music like no other performer I know.

Frans Bruggen Edition
For anyone who only knows Brüggen's recorder work by reputation, I can only suggest that you acquire this set immediately to acquaint yourself with one of the founding figures of the early-music and period-performance movements. Brüggen established the recorder on records, with an astonishing technical facility and interpretive expressiveness. (12 CDs)

Glazunov: Complete Concertos / Barton Pine, Romanovsky, Yang, Chisson, Serov

View all of our featured titles from the Warner Classics labels, and be sure to browse through our special sale section covering Warner Classics, EMI, Virgin, Erato, Teldec, and Apex while they are all on sale. (Sale ends at midnight ET 11/12/13.)

As always, I thank you for your support and love of classical music.
