All of these pieces are quite fetching, some are arrestingly beautiful. There’s much to admire in the pianist's playing: pellucid tone, sure-fingered technique, and an obvious relish for this undeservedly obscure music.
Coupled with this excellent rendition of the Vaughan Williams Fifth is a performance of Finzi's Clarinet Concerto that is difficult to imagine being bettered. The vivid, well balanced sound reproduction makes total the listener's enjoyment.
