 A Romantic Trio July 30, 2013
By James D. S. (Villa Hills, KY) -- See All My Reviews
The Eroica Trio might be dismissed as three lovely ladies doing a glamorous gig with not much substance. This would be a wrong assumption as the playing is very well done indeed. The style is a bit heavy on exuberance. Sonorous comes to mind. Still, the interplay among the Trio is excellent and the recorded sound top notch as one would expect from EMI. The selections make for an interesting program and this is an entertaining album. If you prefer a more cerebral approach to this music there are perhaps other groups you might prefer. I sort of fall on the side of "expressive" playing with maybe a little more emotion than called for as opposed to a too acerbic interpretation just for the sake of modernity. So I would say this is a satisfying outing by three lovely ladies that work very well together and I think most people will agree. Report Abuse
