 Masterful Bruckner May 27, 2014
By owen  ryan (lakewood, CA) -- See All My Reviews
I have gained a greater appreciation of Bruckner's symphonies thanks to Gunter Wand. This compilation is far superior to the other Bruckner recordings in my collection. The remastered recordings are quite satisfactory; the analogs from the '70's being superior to the early 80's digital. I feel compelled to either go to confession or turn myself in to the police because this set was a steal at Arkiv's sale price. Report Abuse

Excellent Bruckner, Amazing Customer Service December 11, 2012
By David Murray (Statesboro, GA) -- See All My Reviews
Wand has long been my favorite Bruckner conductor, and these recordings only enhance my opinion of him. The music making is dynamite and the price ($23.99 for the whole set, as of right now) can't be beaten. On top of that, my set arrived without the first disc. I contacted Arkivmusic and received a copy of that disc 2 days after my initial email. Thanks! Report Abuse

An Austrian Conductor for an Austrian composer August 28, 2012
By John E H. (New York, NY) -- See All My Reviews
The box of Wand conducting the Bruckner symphonies is a wonderful surprize. I have gathered a number of Bruckner recordings over the years and each of them brings a special insight into the composer. However, as has been noted, Wand shared with Bruckner the same spiritual background of being an Austrian Catholic and this seems to give a special quality o these recordings. I have been expecially captivated by Six. I hhave liste ned o it several times and I will to treasure it. Report Abuse

 Good Set August 19, 2012

A fine set of the standard nine Bruckner symphonies in nicely remastered sound. Wand's tempos are slightly faster than most. One disappointment - no cymbal crash in No. 7. Report Abuse
