 Outstanding gift December 29, 2012

I presented this collection to visiting friends from the UK and they were amazed that I would think of works that they loved. Interestingly enough they presented me with a single disc of Carols from Kings! Report Abuse

 A festive holiady collection December 24, 2012
By David B. (WATERTOWN, MA) -- See All My Reviews
"The King's Christmas Collection" is a festive seasonal serenade. The selections, familiar or otherwise, are sung and played with consistent joie de vivre. This is a musical bargain not to be missed. Report Abuse

Not what was expected December 14, 2012
By Irene F Schreuder (Charlottesville, VA) -- See All My Reviews
The Choir of King'd College Cambridge is one of the very best and again, also in this recording. Thinking this to be a collection of their beautiful Christmas melodies, this also contained the actual Christmas service; thus has a limited use and not appropriate for when you have company over.  A Great Christmas Gift December 12, 2012
By John Edelblute (Hartford, WI) -- See All My Reviews
I purchased this album not for my personnal use but as a gift for a family member. (MY wife) We will have to wait until she receives it Christmas Day for an evaluation. She is a retired music educator, choral director, and band director. I'm sure her reaction will be "5 stars." If you are still looking for Christmas gifts, why not this album? Report Abuse

I am 78 years old, and have never missed a broadcast of the Nine Lessons and Carols since I was 13 years old.Later I became a Choral Conductor and it is not Christmas without this choir. Report Abuse

 Good -but Something's Missing December 4, 2012
By John Harutunian (Newton, MA) -- See All My Reviews
By ordinary standards this is a fine set. A good sound, and singing that is robust and accurate. But the refinement, elegance, enchantment and downright magic of the St. John's College versions from the 1960s are no longer there. In addition, some of the carols are done in contemporary arrangements, which substitute a bland, comparatively prosaic, earthy quality for the timeless, otherworldly aura of the earlier versions.
