Biography

The Orchestra of the Americas, based in Mexico City, is primarily a studio ensemble that has recorded numerous successful discs of light classical music and musical theater. Under the baton of Paul Freeman, the orchestra made a series of eight discs entitled Aspects of Broadway (for the label Intersound) featuring excerpts from 40 Broadway musicals arranged in instrumental suites. Other critically acclaimed releases include such discs as Read more Conciertos y Chôro and México Sinfonico (for the Urtext label), collections of orchestral works by contemporary Mexican composers. It has also released a disc of violin concertos by Paganini, Sarasate, and Ginastera with violinist Ruggiero Ricci (for the label One-Eleven Ltd.). Read less
