"I cannot do better than what my fellow operaphiles have written. But I do want to point out that this early 50s mono recording does a fine job in the triumphal scene differentiating the various stage and pit elements: the band wails away quite apart from the orchestra; not off stage but on it in full earshot. It is not polite but squally and exciting! Bravi!"

A Classic March 19, 2013

"There is not much to say about this recording, except it is absolutely a classic. Del Monaco and Tebaldi show why they were one of the most formidable couple in this repertoire in the 50's and mid 60's. Same goes to the rest of the cast, with Stignani (superb too), Caselli, corena and De Palma."

"Singers and conductors would be able to take a lesson from this rendition. Tebaldi and Stignani are the epitomy of vocal acting. DelMonaco power in the ensembles is awesome. You can't get better in this repertoire than Erede. This was a bargain. I can speak on this, since I heard all of these atists live. "
