A Happy Reissue October 26, 2013 By Herb C. (Sandwich, IL) See All My Reviews "I originally bought this recording some years back when it was on the Erato label; and then it disappeared. So this is a happy release. I can only say if you do not own a recording of Les Huguenots then this is the one to have. It is not perfect but it is well conducted and above all (to my knowledge) a complete performance. This is a concert performance so the thrill of theater is ever present. Richard Leech was younger and just coming on the scene as was Francoise Pollet (whatever became of her?). Their singing of the 3d act duet with the grand "blessing of the poignards" preceding it is the highlight of this performance. No other recording comes close to this ardent and gorgeous singing. The basso of Nicola Ghiuselev is right on for Marcel; the 2 baritones are decent. Unfortunately Danielle Borst is overparted by Urbain's musing. Ghylaine Raphanel is no Sutherland (who is?) but acquits heself well in her big scene. So if you are in the need go ahead and het this recording; I do not know if a libretto is included."
