Reinhard Keiser, the "Honor of Germany", founder of the German baroque opera and contemporary of Handel, composed more than 100 operas which are very popular at his times. In his opera Die grossmütige Tomyris, premiered in Hamburg in 1717, Keiser tells us an old legend, located in ancient Persia. Hans-Martin Linde's 1988 live recording on period instruments. This opera is led by an exquisite vocal cast including Gabriele Fontana and Hans-Martin Linde.
