TOP NOTCH in EVERY RESPECT! September 9, 2013 By P. Ledesma (Wellington, KS) See All My Reviews "I've purchased several recordings of Bach Cantatas, and when I spotted this offering, I snatched it up immediately! I was a huge fan of the headline vocalists - but who isn't? But I hadn't heard anything from the rest of the musicians listed. With that stated, I found this recording sonically superb and the musicianship absolutely flawless! While it doesn't match the period authenticity of Ristenpart and Harnoncourt, they give Bach's music the benefit of the superior instrumentation of the modern era combined with some of the all time greatest vocal talent ever assembled! Additionally, the care taken by the direction of Gonnewein and Jones to present this music with sublime excellence is arguably unmatched in historical recording history! Even my dear wife - who is occasionally pickier than I am when it comes to Bach - gives this Cantata set a 5 star rating!!!" Report Abuse
