Notes and Editorial Reviews

"...there is certainly no want of vitality...in the Kreutzer finale. Articulation is always alert, and clarity and precision of ensemble are virtually flawless. (Talking of flaws, one thing we are spared here is the rumble of underground trains—which I can't remember any reviewer mentioning—which obtruded in the Decca set, for instance before the first double-bar of the A minor's Scherzoso and before the Adagio intervention in its finale, or in the eighth bar after the Adagio of the Spring Sonata turns into the minor.) And it's wonderful to have two violinists whose intonation never occasions a single qualm!"

- L.S., Gramophone, (From review of the original release, October, 1980)
