Notes and Editorial Reviews

The Schwanengesang issue has seven additional (and popular) songs on it. Fischer-Dieskau's reading of these, and of the Heine pieces in the cycle, adumbrate his vivid characterization: wordpictures and portraits indeed.

Special recording June 18, 2014 By Irene B. (STOWE, VT) See All My Reviews "This is an exceptional recording: Dietrich Fischer -Dieskau singing Schubert songs is an old classic, unavailable anywhere else I searched. It is, in my opinion, the most exquisite version of these songs -- with Dieskau's ethereal voice and Gerald Moore's legendary piano accompaniment. Once you hear this CD, you'll never want another version of Schubert songs." Report Abuse
