Virtuoso performances August 12, 2014 By owen  r. (lakewood, CA) See All My Reviews "Disc 1 is Beethoven's wonderful Triple Concerto with Oistrakh, Richter, and Rostropovich backed by Karajan and the Berlin Phil. What more do you need to know? No clashing egos here, just glorious, empathic playing. Disc 2 has Brahms' Violin Concerto and the Double Concerto with Oistrakh and Rostropovich backed by Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra. Szell can always be counted upon to deliver a stellar performance and the two Russian superstars are in top form. The Violin Concerto is a favorite of mine and Oistrakh really excels in this performance. These three works have been remastered from the original master tapes for this SACD issue transforming EMI's usually mediocre audio into an acceptable to good sound." Report Abuse
