Different and Refreshing January 24, 2014 By James C. (Baton Rouge, LA) See All My Reviews "This is a varied and enjoyable Holiday album that features many favorites, like a wonderful arrangement of "Away in a Manger," s well as some, for me, anyway, international rarities. The most refreshing aspect of the whole disc is it's lack of that typical Angilcan hooty sound. These sound like real people, with real emotions, rather than some "expert" choir with bloodless trebles." Report Abuse
pretty December 16, 2013 By Elizabeth Ledkovsky (Salt Point, NY) See All My Reviews "Very nice sounding ensemble, well blended, crystalline soprano sound, excellent intonation, lovely repertoire. The selections could be better researched though. For example, the piece "Tebe Pojem" is NOT from 20th century Russia (although it is sung in the Church Slavonic language used in Russia and in other Slavic countries). Rather, it is a composition by the eminent SERBIAN composer Stevan S. MOKRAJNAC: a selection from his complete work, for the Divine Liturgy of St. John of Chrysostom (the usual liturgy served by the Orthodox church year-round, except for during Great Lent and on a few other occasions). It was composed in 1895 (though some sources say 1901), making it a work of 19th century SERBIA, not 20th century Russia! This incorrect attribution notwithstanding, the choir is worth supporting and listening to." Report Abuse
Beautiful Sound Recording January 24, 2013 By John Q. (Basking Ridge, NJ) See All My Reviews "The music is lively. The voices, crisp and clear." Report Abuse
