Notes and Editorial Reviews

Philip Pickett and the New London Consort perform a collection of Renaissance Christmas music for voices and Renaissance instruments in this 1997 recording.

Traditional Christmas hymns, melodies, carols and folk-carols are sung by authorities Catherine Bott, Julia Gooding, Elisabeth Scholl and Michael George and others, accompanied by a diverse range of authentic instruments in consorts.

Praetorius was a prolific composer, principally of settings

One of today's most eminent advocates of period performance, Philip Pickett founded the New London Consort in the 1980s. The composition of the group on this recording includes a host of seminal musicians (singers and instrumentalists) all of whom are well-respected authorities in the field of early music.
