"Heard this one on the radio and was attracted to its unique program concept and its 'balls to the wall' rendition of #3. Maybe it was the phenomena of first hearing because after a few plays, not so different to equally enthusiastic and virtuosic performances of the Brandenburgs; fully comparable to Karl Richter, which is my favorite. Which says a lot for this one. The Shost. preludes affected me as an auditory 'amuse bouche' - perhaps one ought to say an amuse orielle. They are like all the rest of DS, great. As a result, very interested to hear them all. Historically authentic leaderless ensemble and instruments. Many rewards going back often to this one!"
