Just right January 2, 2014 By Lois L. (Cambridge , MA) See All My Reviews "For me, the balance of components here was just right. The set was simple, pleasing, and unobtrusive. Stage business was minimal. Costumes were simple and appealing, and Susanna and the Countess got to change their dresses often, from one pretty color to another. So it was enjoyable to look at, and the emphasis was on the music. Diana Damrau (Susanna) continues to be a favorite. Figaro’s voice was thrilling. Towards the end, Marcellina had a very fine aria. Don Basilio did too, and delivered it especially well. All of the singers were fine, although it is true that other Cherubinos have looked more convincing. If this is the balance of components that you like too, you should get enormous pleasure from this performance." Report Abuse
Lead singer too serious February 13, 2013 By Morris Reagan (Madison, MS) See All My Reviews "Beautiful performance in every way EXCEPT for poor acting by the baritone singing the part of Figaro. He attacks the title role as if it were a Verdi soap opera or a Wagner drama. Le Nozzi de Figaro is a COMIC opera." Report Abuse
