Notes and Editorial Reviews

Karl Leister has recorded Mozart's Concerto before (EMI) and played it countless times, but his performance remains fresh, good humoured, touched with melancholy, and enlivening. If this new performance is less personal than Brymer's beautiful Philips version, also with the Academy and Marriner, it is no less musical; and the freedom of Marriner's group seems to suit him well... [T]he new record is at present the best available modern coupling of the two works, with the entertaining Sonata thrown in for good measure.
