Notes and Editorial Reviews

This is stabbing, gut-Vivaldi. By using small forces and treating the violin virtually as a member of the ensemble, Harnoncourt brings out just what an avant-garde figure the musical ‘Red Priest’ was in his day . The result is a far cry from more populist four-seasonal mush. He offers not four, but six, of the dozen Op. 8 concertos – and the extra pair is worth hearing.

-- Roderic Dunnett, BBC Music Magazine

Top of the Line Performance January 25, 2013 By Chris F. (Halifax, NS) See All My Reviews "This is quite simply the best performance of The Four Seasons I have ever heard, whether live or recorded. As (nearly) always, Concentus Musicus combines fantastically tight discipline with enormous energy, and the effect is stunning. There is also a beautiful balance between soloist and ensemble. If you haven't got it, do so! (I got it a month ago, and I still can't get the hunting music from Autumn out of my head.)" Report Abuse
