Notes and Editorial Reviews

As this curious collection of transcribed string concertos confirms, Nakariakov is fast becoming the Volodos of the trumpet; however natural it is to admire principally his virtuosity (the flugel horn playing in the Haydn C major Cello Concerto is quite remarkable), it is the refined lyricism of the young Russian which marks him out as almost sui generis among trumpeters. The Mendelssohn concerto is an early work in D minor from 1822, just in case you thought otherwise!

How can Anyone Look so relaxed! June 14, 2012 By David G. (Jennings, LA) See All My Reviews "If you are into technical trumpet playing, this one is for you! It is also a great recording for some virtually unknown concerto's. I am also impressed with the orchestral performance by an orchestra that I am not familiar with, other than this recording. His ease of playing (string instrument transciption's) is unbelievable!" Report Abuse
