Founded by Kristjan Järvi in 1993, the Absolute Ensemble is a group of outstanding musicians that break the musical boundaries between different genres and cultures. On Bach Re-Invented, the Ensemble uses the famous Bach two-part inventions for keyboard to explore its impact on many musical genres from jazz and rock to pop and folk. Guitarist Gene Pritsker and sax player Daniel Schnyder developed these short pieces into concerto movements where rock, gypsy folk music, Indian rhythms, African beats and electronica meet Bach’s Baroque counterpoint.
