Notes and Editorial Reviews

This selection contains both ADD and DDD recordings.

Even given the continued popularity of Baroque music, Vivaldi's distinction as a perennial favorite is matched only by Mozart's. THE PERFECT VIVALDI is an attempt to capture the best recordings of the composer's most popular works on a single disc: no small feat, considering he wrote over 500 concertos.

The producers do an admirable job of narrowing such a broad body of work down to eight pieces. Leading off with the most famous, "Spring" from The Four Seasons, the album is an excellent introduction to the music of Vivaldi. Performances from a number of world class ensembles have been remastered from original recordings in the EMI Angel
