Notes and Editorial Reviews

Brisk virtuosity and faultless intonation -- these concertos come over as fresh as paint.

It is a fine academic point whether these Op. 10 concertos were originally written for recorder or transverse flute. When the recorder is played with such brisk virtuosity and faultless intonation as Michala Petri consistently provides, only a dullard could ask for anything more. At a rather piping modern pitch (a sopranino recorder is used in Nos. 3, 4 and 6) and sympathetically accompanied by the ASMF, these concertos come over as fresh as paint with just an occasional gargantuan breath from Petri to show that she is human.
