Unbelievable May 31, 2012 By M. Bishop (Clackamas, OR) See All My Reviews "I was sitting in my office after I had taken great pains and care to select this music when I discovered that I'd purchased a "sampler." And that's what this is--portions of music from a composer and not the whole for each piece, a comprehensive overview of the musician's output, not a complete picture of any one work. I can't beleive I did that. At any rate, the sound quality is more than good, and the presentation at least gives you a map of where to go and what to purchase when you want to get a complete work of Schubert. For those works in the presentation that are complete, one recieves an ear full of complimentary sounds. A couple of art songs I identified as ones that I rehearsed and performed when I sang with an ensemble during my late high school days appeared in the mix. Quite a compendium of Schubert at his best." Report Abuse
The Curate's egg May 29, 2012 By Peter van Elden (Geelong, Victoria) See All My Reviews "Not too bad. The good (the Masses) are great, the average (some of the vocal items) are still ok, and a few are not very good at all. But for the price paid how could you possibly complain?" Report Abuse
Disappointed May 29, 2012 By Gary M. (Verona, NJ) See All My Reviews "While there are some gems on here such as pieces by Schwarzkopf, Fischer-Dieskau and Gerald Moore I am disappointed to see that many selections here are excerpts such as a movement from a quintet, etc. I don't like this. I need to hear the whole piece. I guess I didn't read the description carefully enough. " Report Abuse
