Be transported to the exotic town of Granada, the stunning Alhambra Gardens and Aranjuez Palace with two of the most popular Spanish classical masterpieces. Alicia de Larrocha (piano) and Pepe Romero (guitar) are filmed in great performances by director Larry Weinstein who weaves these works to seductive images of some of Spain’s most famous locations.
Also featured is a captivating production of Manuel de Falla’s Master Peter’s Puppet-Show described by The Gramophone as “a sparkling little work all too rarely staged but displaying Falla’s mastery of dramatic compression and imaginative instrumentation.”

Some of each ....September 4, 2013By Judith S. (Las Cruces, NM)See All My Reviews"The music, de Larrocha and de Falla, Romero and Rodrigo, is wonderful -- everything one could want. The video is a bit strange -- stilted and repetitive, perhaps simply dated. The locale is gorgeous, but night scenes are badly lit, and editing is choppy. I'd say, play this DVD to listen to, and just glance at the screen once in awhile to get the idea of the beautiful locations. I did like seeing the soloists at work. There were interesting patches or glimpses of an elderly Rodrigo and his wife, but this came off as unfulfilled and aimless. As I said, the performances are stunning."Report Abuse
