Notes and Editorial Reviews

Featuring the music of Vince Guaraldi, Luther Henderson and Brandon Ridenour, Christmas Time Is Here pays tribute to some of the most popular animated specials created for the holidays. Including many new arrangements, this is the Canadian Brass’ second release for the Steinway & Sons label.

R E V I E W S:

"Luther Henderson has written scores of scores for the [Canadian] Brass and his holiday ones are remembered here...A new holiday classic that feels like home for a fractured, mobile society, this is the Brass at their 43 year best. An annual listen that's destined to become a perennial, they amaze and confound doing their thing once again as only true masters can do. Check it out."

"As this new recording reflects one more time, the hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is entertainment, spontaneity, and, of course, fun...True to form, the Canadian Brass infuses...timeless classics with verve and humor while keeping the music lively with commendable virtuosity. Christmas Time is Here is an interesting, zesty album, and a humorous addition to an overcrowded Holiday Music catalogue."
-- Christian Dalzon, Concerto Net.com

"The Canadian Brass has brought back the richness and remembrances of the season with their release Christmas Time Is Here... As is the case with most Canadian Brass recordings they have developed such a chemistry and harmonic styling that the five brass instruments get the most of their range and voicings... This album is a delightful little present to put under the Christmas tree."

Canadian Brass January 18, 2014 By Nicolas Tatarinoff (Oxley Park, New South Wales) See All My Reviews "Very brassy and jazzy, tekes away from the inate quality of the carols." Report Abuse
Canadian Brass Christmas December 30, 2013 By Thomas B. (Powell, WY) See All My Reviews "This is great recording of the Canadian Brass doing what they do best. It is mostly music from the Charley Brown Christmas show with the brass little twists. Of course their playing is amazing as usual." Report Abuse
A Hit from the Canadian Brass December 6, 2013 By V. Rufino (Succasunna, NJ) See All My Reviews "One of their best Christmas albums, (I have them all). Although the personnel has changed over the years, the playing is still top tier, and the arrangements clever. Recording quality is excellent especially with multiple speakers and a good receiver. This also sounds great in the car. If you love holiday music and want something different, this is the choice of the season." Report Abuse
