Sony Classical is proud to release the Summer Night Concert 2013 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lorin Maazel, featuring the music of Verdi and Wagner in celebration of their bicentennial anniversaries. This annual open-air event has been held since 2008 on the park grounds of the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria and airs nationwide on PBS’s Great Performances. This year’s Summer Night Concert was conducted by the legendary Lorin Maazel who has a long- standing association with the Vienna Philharmonic having conducted their celebrated New Year’s Eve Concert eleven times. They are joined by Michael Schade, an outstanding tenor who has performed with legendary opera companies around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala in Milan, the Paris Opera and the Salzburg Festival. With the UNESCO World Heritage setting of the Baroque park of Schönbrunn Palace as the backdrop, the Summer Night Concert adds stunning visuals to the superb musical program.
