Dionysos stood out as one of the brilliant highlights of the 2010 Salzburg Festival. Wolfgang Rihm compiled the libretto for this remarkable opera fantasy, in which every word comes from Nietzsche's Dionysos Dithyrambs. The story follows the figure of N. (Johannes Martin Kränzle), a blend and interaction of Dionysos, Marsyas and Nietzsche, an eternal wanderer in search of love, fulfilment and truth.
