Joyful Light MusicJune 29, 2016By Henry S. (Springfield, VA)See All My Reviews"The irrepressible Scot Iain Sutherland has done it again! A specialist in light classical music (BBC style), Mr. Sutherland, with his own concert orchestra, presents a delightful program of American classical pops, almost in the manner and tradition of the legendary Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. Ranging from such well known works as Victor Herbert's March of the Toys to Richard Rogers' Song of the High Seas (of Victory at Sea fame), the musical lineup has something for everybody; even Civil War fans get their share, with the infectious Civil War tune Marching Through Georgia to thoroughly rile up unreconstructed, die-hard Lost Cause holdouts!) I cannot imagine anyone not being attracted to this most relaxing and entertaining recording. Does the Iain Sutherland Concert Orchestra have the luxurious sound of Arthur Fiedler's Boston Pops orchestra? No. Does it really matter? Again, no. This is still a very fine recording. Try it-if you don't come away smiling, then I've really missed the boat here. Recommended."Report Abuse
