Notes and Editorial Reviews
Conversation is likely to stop if you put on the CD reissue of "O Holy Night" featuring Luciano Pavarotti with the National Philharmonic Orchestra under Kurt Herbert Adler with the Wandsworth Boys' Choir and the London Voices (Decca CD 414 044-2DH)... Most of the music, an indiscriminating patchwork of Catholic religiosity from Schubert through Franck to Bach/Gounod, has been re-arranged, but Yon's Gesu bambino and the Sanctus from the Berlioz Requiem are left with their original orchestration. Adeste fideles at the end is dominated by that breathtaking swooping voice.

"Beautiful execution of Christmas songs. I saw the original TV program where they played this performance, and it is a beautiful concert, like only Pavarotti could perform."
