Notes and Editorial Reviews

Two sparkling ballet scores from the great master of light classics with the champagne touch. Filled with waltzes, polkas, the inevitable Cancan and the timeless Barcarolle, these bouyant performances never touch the ground.

This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
These were original two-track stereo recordings; in SACD multi-channel mode, the music will be heard only from the left and right channels.

The Cancan from Boston May 8, 2017 By owen  ryan (lakewood, CA) See All My Reviews "What great fun Offenbach's gay music is. At your next party, after guests have had a couple drinks, put this disc in your stereo and you'll have a couple ladies dancing on your table. Accompanying Gaite Parisienne is the equally colorful La Boutique Fantasque. When you are not in the mood for serious music play this and have some fun. These mid-fifties recordings sound pretty good but for some brittleness at the top of Gaite Parisienne; much less apparent on my JVC disc of this same performance. In any case, get this disc for a little gaiety in your life." Report Abuse
