Really, Really Good November 18, 2020 By William R. (Vista, CA) See All My Reviews "As indicated in my review of Scheherazade by Phil. Orch., I must say I was disappointed this rendition of 1812 included chorus – an entire 2 mins. to start the track. Arkivmusik online description even as of 18 Nov. 20 did not indicate it was a choral track – please don’t get me wrong, nothing against chorus, yet it is not my thing and I likely would not have purchased the CD had I know it was part choral. However 1812, along with all the other tracks are wow; good stage presence, separation, instrumental fidelity. Hard to believe this was recorded over 50 years ago. (My system seems to like ADD Spars code recordings). This recording is really, really good. Though it may not replace my current 1812 favorite (Mercury, Univ. of MN recording on vinyl) this will get equal playing time. I just like PSO with Eugene Ormandy directing." Report Abuse
