a nice recording, but ... July 14, 2012 By K. Krueger (Evergreen Park, IL) See All My Reviews "This would seem to be a very sensitively performed group of pieces by Astor Piazzolla. The booklet is almost wholly in French (and far beyond my ability to translate); 24 pages of notes in French, 1.2 pages in English, and 1.8 in German. Fortunately, this is a reduced price re-issue, so I suppose one must not complain. And as for the title group of four tangos, they seem most often played by violin and guitar, less frequently with flute and guitar, at least one with Piazzolla's beloved bandoneon and guitar, and even by a saxophone quartet!

Of course, one purchases a compact disk for its music, not for any accompanying notes (or lack thereof). However, I have noticed a willingness among European labels when presenting a rearranged version of some piece to provide little if any acknowledgement of the changes made in the performance being sold. Tacky, tacky Harmonia Mundi! Still, it is a nice recording."
