Notes and Editorial Reviews

Trio Spektrum is Marilyn Shotola, flute, Stan Stanford, clarinet and Tomas Svoboda, piano - one of the foremost chamber ensembles working in the Pacific Northwest. This, their second CD release, is a wide-ranging tableau, including the early Tarentelle of Camille Saint-Saens, a striking arrangement for clarinet and piano of Witold Lutoslawski's Dance Preludes, a tender arrangement for the trio of a rarely heard suite, originally for violin, flute and piano of the nineteenth century Russian composer, Cesar Cui, Katherine Hoover's vividly wrought Masks for solo flute and piano and the title work, by Tomas Svoboda, the six-movement suite for the trio, Dreams of a Dancer. -- Duration: 66 min.
