"Arthur Villar's recent performance of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier I at the Hartt School showed remarkable insight and imagination. He imbued each Prelude and Fugue with a distinct personality and revealed structural details rarely heard in other performances, live or recorded. His treatment of recitative passages in the Preludes stood out for its blend of freedom and structure. Moreover, his rendering of Bach's compound line, for example in the Bb major Fugue, was unique, thanks to innovative phrasing and articulation. In short, Mr. Villar promises to become a major Bach pianist of our time." - Ira Braus, [2010], Prof of Music History, Ph.D. Harvard University
