Opera News
"In a recital with the Tapiola Sinfonietta led by Peter Schreier, Finnish soprano Soile Isokoski's presentation of seven major Mozart arias shows perfect understanding of the subtle dramatic and musical demands of this repertoire...Isokoski's narrow, densely colored voice, clean, elegant phrasing and natural nobility of utterance are beautifully apt for this repertoire and in Fiordiligi's arias from Così fan Tutte and the Countess's Dove sono from Le Nozze di Figaro, the extra dramatic definition is considerable." - OPERA NEWS

"Finnish soprano Soile Isokoski has a solid technique and a beautiful
Read more voice that gleams brightly at the top and is evenly produced...her "Dove sono" makes her a Countess of one's dreams, with just the right emphases and pathos, no exaggerations, and a simply lovely legato. Throughout this recital she also is scrupulous about Mozart's dynamic markings, and in "Ruhe sanft" she manages the various tempo changes skillfully while keeping her tone silvery and pure (the latter with one exception). Once in a while she arrives slightly north of a high note, but I'm carping--this is a stunning series of performances, and her "Ah, lo prevedi", the composer's earliest great concert aria, is absolutely classic in its generosity of tone and temperament. Isokoski may seem a bit cool, but much of it is a dignified reserve and a refusal to approach vulgarity. The Tapiola Sinfonietta plays with grace and accuracy under Peter Schreier, and pianist Marita Viitasolo is impressive in K. 505. Very highly recommended." - Robert Levine, ClassicsToday.com

Fanfare
The collaboration between the rising star Finnish soprano, Soile Isokosi, and the retired tenor, Peter Schreier, now a conductor, who was a specialist in Mozart tenor roles, produces very fine results in this recital.
Isokosi has a bright, clean vocal sound and a fine technique...Schreier favors relaxed slow tempos that I find acceptable. Many modern conductors tend to play Mozart too fast. Swift tempos often destroy the gracefulness essential to the style of Mozart’s 18th-century music... The booklet contains notes, biographical material of both singer and conductor, and texts and translations are provided. The sound is excellent. All lovers of Mozart will be pleased by this release.
